Privacy Policy — Right Verse
Effective date: October 16, 2026
Right Verse ("the App") is provided by Woodmill Coaching Inc. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it.
Using Right Verse With or Without an Account
An account is not required to use Right Verse. You may tap "Continue as a Guest" and use the App right away. You may also create an account, using email and password, Sign in with Apple (on iPhone) or Sign in with Google (on Android), and you may create one later from Settings without losing anything you have already written.
What we collect differs between the two, so this policy names which is which.
Without an account, we hold no email address and no name. Your conversations are stored against an anonymous identifier generated on your device. Please note: because there is no email address attached, there is no way for us to recover that history. If you sign out, delete the App, or lose the device, conversations saved without an account are permanently gone. Creating an account from Settings at any point attaches your existing history to it and keeps it.
With an account, the same history is attached to your email address (or to the private relay address Apple provides if you use Sign in with Apple, or your Google account's email address if you use Sign in with Google), so it can be reached from another device by signing in.
Information We Collect
We collect:
-
Account information, only if you create an account — your email address, or your Apple ID relay address if you use Sign in with Apple, or your Google account's email address and name if you use Sign in with Google. If you continue without an account, we hold neither.
-
An account identifier in all cases, including when you continue without an account. Without an account this is an anonymous identifier and is not connected to your name, email address, or any other identifying information.
-
The text you submit in the App — what you share, and any prompts you write. This is stored as part of your personal conversation history within the App.
-
Verses you favorite ("heart") and your Daily Bread history, the latter so the App can avoid repeating verses it has already given you.
-
Margin Notes you write against a verse. A note is stored with the verse reference, its translation and the verse text it was written about, so the note can be shown in your Margin Notes list without reopening the day it belongs to. Margin Notes are yours; the App does not send them to OpenAI and does not use them to generate anything.
-
Your app preferences, such as your chosen Bible translation, stored in our database.
-
Subscription status, managed through Apple's App Store or Google Play, depending on where you subscribed, and our payment processing partner (RevenueCat). We also store the resulting access level (free or subscribed) in our own database, so the App knows what you are entitled to without asking the store on every request.
-
A count of how many verses you have requested today, if you are using the free tier, together with the calendar date that count belongs to. This exists only to apply the free tier's daily limit. It is a number and a date; it records nothing about what you asked for, and it resets each day.
-
A record of your consent to AI processing, including when it was given, because the App may not send anything to OpenAI before it exists.
-
Technical data needed to operate the service — device type, IP address, timestamps, basic error and delivery logs, and a device identifier (Apple's identifier for vendor on iPhone, the Android ID on Android) used to apply usage limits.
-
Basic usage analytics through Firebase Analytics — which features are used and whether requests succeed or fail. These events record actions and verse references. They never include the text you write.
How We Use Information
We use information to:
-
Generate and return verse and reflection results
-
Maintain your personal history, so you can look back on past conversations, favorited verses and your own notes
-
Avoid serving you the same Daily Bread verse repeatedly
-
Maintain and improve reliability (debugging and performance)
-
Manage your subscription and account access
We do not sell your personal information.
AI Processing
Right Verse uses AI to help select relevant Bible verses based on what you share, and to generate short reflections when requested. See "How It Works" in the App's Settings for more detail.
Before any text you write can be sent to OpenAI, the App asks for your explicit agreement. A screen titled "Before We Begin" appears before the App can be used, states what is sent and to whom, and requires you to actively check a box saying "I understand and agree that my prompts are sent to OpenAI."
You may choose "Later" instead of agreeing. Doing so lets you look around the App, but it does not give you access to anything that uses AI — asking for a verse brings this screen back. Nothing you write is transmitted to OpenAI before your agreement is recorded, and this is checked both in the App and again on our server, which refuses any request that arrives without a consent record. Choosing "Later" is stored on your device only and is never treated as consent.
What is and is not sent:
-
A prompt you write is sent to OpenAI so a relevant passage can be selected and returned.
-
A reflection you request by tapping "Ponder" sends the verse you received, and — where the entry began with a prompt you wrote — that prompt, so the reflection can be generated.
-
Daily Bread does not involve OpenAI at all. A Daily Bread verse is chosen from a curated list held on our own server; no text of yours is written, and nothing is sent to OpenAI to select it. If you then request a reflection on a Daily Bread verse, the verse reference and its text are sent to OpenAI — nothing you wrote, because you wrote nothing.
Third-Party Services
Right Verse relies on the following third-party services to operate:
-
Firebase (Google) — account authentication (including Sign in with Google), secure storage of your conversation history and preferences, and basic usage analytics
-
OpenAI — processes submitted text to select relevant verses and generate reflections
-
API.Bible — provides the Scripture text displayed in the App
-
Postmark — delivers verification email. Used only if you create an account with an email address; it receives nothing if you continue without an account or use Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google.
-
Apple, Google Play and RevenueCat — process subscription payments and manage your subscription status
Text you submit is processed by these services solely to operate the App's features. OpenAI processes it to produce your response and does not use it to train its models; it may retain it for a limited period for abuse monitoring under its own API terms.
Biometric Authentication
If you enable Face ID lock (iPhone) or Biometric Lock (Android), authentication happens entirely on your device through its own systems: Apple's Face ID, or Android's fingerprint, face unlock or screen lock. Right Verse never receives, transmits, or stores your biometric data — we only receive a simple success or failure result.
Data Retention
Your conversation history, favorited verses, notes, and account information are retained for as long as your account is active, so that the App's Journal, Favorites and Margin Notes features work as intended. This applies equally to accounts created by continuing without one.
You may delete individual entries and individual notes at any time within the App, and you may delete your account entirely from Settings — including an account created by continuing without one.
Sharing From the App
The App can hand a verse, a reflection or a note to your device's own share sheet, either as text or as an image the App draws. This does not pass through our servers, and we do not record what you shared or who you shared it with — where it goes is entirely your choice and happens between your device and whichever app you pick.
If you delete your account, your personal data is permanently removed, except for two limited categories: technical logs, which may be retained briefly for security and abuse-prevention purposes before being deleted or anonymized, and a pseudonymous subscription record maintained by our payment processor (RevenueCat), which is retained to support purchase restoration and complies with app store recordkeeping requirements. This subscription record is not linked to your name, email, or any other personally identifying information.
Signing out of an account created without registration deletes nothing, but makes it unreachable. There is no address to sign back in with, so the effect is the same as deletion from your point of view. The App warns you before any action that would do this.
Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect the information handled by the App. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Children's Privacy
Right Verse is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your Choices
You can use Right Verse without providing an email address at all. You can delete individual entries within the App at any time. You can delete your account entirely from within the App's Settings, which permanently removes your personal data as described above. If you began without an account and want your history to survive a lost device, you can create one at any time from Settings.
